A New Year for New Resolutions...

Say goodbye to 2008 and a big HELLO to 2009.... Gosh how time really flies by...

Has it ever occur to you that New Year was just a day before and now it’s here to visit you again? Mankind can never delay time yet time will always take its course and before realizing, you’re up for a brand new year again.

Each brand new year, many would vowed to make new resolutions to embrace the better things they anticipate ahead, to be prepared of overwhelming challenges that awaits them and hoping to achieve or at least aligned to goals that they’ve set the first day of the new year.

One whole year is a long time; 365 days that passes by with good times and unavoidable bad moments as well. It’s up to every individual to make the change, to enable change and to make the change of their advantage.

The year 2008 for me can be summed up in one word – GREAT. That’s a very powerful word I know but it’s up to you to make the best of every year you have. It’s a choice you’re given to make, so why not choose to stay happy and achieve the best of every precious moment you can get. :)

I’ll make some simple resolutions for 2009... it took me a while to list this down... LOL! :P
  • Spending more time with the ones I care the most
  • Having more precious time with my dearest family :)

  • Getting my diving certification

  • Going all out in the things I do

  • Enjoying life to the fullest

  • More food spree

  • Exercise regularly and have a healthy lifestyle

  • Saving more to start funds for travel? :P

PEACE to 2009! :) Have a great year everyone :) =]

A Birthday Celebration @ Bread & Olives Cafe, Look Out Point

My 2nd visit to Look Out Point at Ampang. For those who have yet to visit this place, wait no more... head up there to experience the wonderful world of Malaysia :)

Read about my previous post here :)
http://joanchew_1911.blogspot.com/2008/12/gasoline-cafe-look-out-point-address.html

This time around a group of us gathered together for Peck Yee's big day and a dinner celebration at Bread and Olives Cafe. They served FOOD ranging from the Middle East, like lamb briyani to Italian, like pizza’s and pastas, Mediterranean, like the fatayer or Mediterranean lamb.

Their menu is quite limited from my opinion... It's my first time having middle eastern cuisine.... I have no idea what to order...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

There are 2 floors to this restaurant. The bottom floor had the usual aluminum tables and chairs and the top floor had this apartment suite thingy look alike going on. The dark, woody ambience of the top floor coupled with the view of Kuala Lumpur from so high up was really amazing.

Camwhoring while waiting for the rest to arrive.... We made it on time to view the sunset once again :)

Deep fried chicken wings priced at RM 10.50... We ordered some snacks first while waiting for the rest to arrive...

Western Cuisine - Grilled Chicken Chop priced at RM 16. Sides dishes are mashed potatoes which tasted pretty good and some vegetables & crackers... Drenched in thick black pepper gravy...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Grilled Lamb Chop, RM 18... Same side dishes and sauce.... I heard from others that the lamb chop was so so only...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Dearie & me had this 1/2 roasted chicken to share... priced at RM 23. Huge plate of Briyani rice and 2 chicken drumstick thigh... In fact this signature dish was quite good but I reckon it's a bit pricy for food like these :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Creamy Chicken Pasta RM 20... It looks way too creamy for my liking...

Margharitta Sensation, RM 21... Wooo lots of cheese...

Finale of Bali Trip.... More FOOD... :)

Ho ho ho... this is the finale post of my Bali trip in early November. :) I know it took soo darn long for me to update but I just have too many wonderful photos to share. :)

Now I have MORE pending post to do of wonderful celebrations and gatherings I had... So stay tune for that... :P

During the last day after a trip down to Pura Tanah Lot, we finally headed back to town for a more relaxing day eating and chilling out under the hot and sunny weather.

Bali is definitely one great place for lovers; embrance with scenic views and romantic dinners by the beach...

Hot yummy pancakes stuffed with banana and pineapple for breakfast... topped with cinammon powder, raisins and thick honey... ooolala...

We headed back to the food court again for lunch on the last day and dined at Borneo 8 outlet...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Their famous Bebek Goreng a.k.a Crispy duck.... priced at 25,000 rupiah... Approx RM 7.... Pretty cheap eh... But I didn't find it special at all.. LOL! :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Dinner time at one of the Indonesian restaurant at Kuta town which I forgotten the name... We just chose and walked in randomly... Their honeydew blended drink in eerie green color.. :P
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Their signature Rojak.... Assorted vegetables, eggs and topped with cripy rice crackers (Keropok)
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I opted for something soupy as my tummy wasn't that well yet and it turned out to be a disaster...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Braised duck drenched in thick curry gravy...

Nasi Campur special a.k.a Malaysian local mixed rice... Nothing special at all.. I still prefer the Nasi Campur special at Bumbu Bali, Puchong... :)
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

We boarded the first flight out from Bali and on our way home... The morning view... Ahh I missed home and was craving the local Malaysian Food like Bak Kut Teh! YEAH! So that pretty much sums in all....

Day 4 - Pura Tanah Lot

If there is one sight on Bali which no visitor to the island should miss it is the Pura Tanah Lot... :)
Tanah Lot Temple is situated at southern coast of Beraban village, Kediri district, Tabanan regency, province of Bali. Tanah Lot has a long history in the world of tourism. The temple itself is built on a small promontory which is only accessible at low tide.

Sunset is the best time to visit Tanah lot, when the golden red skies frame the temple and waves crash into the rocks.

The entrance towards Tanah Lot... It's low tide when we were there...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Breath taking view... You can just practically spend time there doing nothing starring at the huge waves crashing against the rock :P

Uluwatu, Temple on a Cliff...

After lunch we headed towards the final spot - Uluwatu.

Perched high on a cliff over the ocean on Bali's south-western tip is the temple of Ulu Watu, a famous tourist destination not to be missed. In addition to the fantastic view from the temple, especially at sunset, the temple is famous for its gang of monkeys who are dangerous... so ladies...beware of your hat, necklace, earrings and purses... they practically grabbed everything they see...

After the temple visit at Pura Taman Ayun, we detoured towards the next temple visit at Pura Ulun Danu on the west side of Lake Bratan, on a small island near the village of Candi Kuning, Bedugul.

Ulun Danu temple is a Balinese Hindu Temple situated in the plateau area with cool atmosphere surround it and hills as a backdrop.

Day 3 - A Visit to Pura Taman Ayun

On day 3, we visited more temples in Bali. HAHA! We eventually seriously honestly got bored of it and remarks like this started to come out:" HAR???? another temple? " :P

Anyway you can never get ancient looking temples like these in Malaysia and hence it was still a great experience.

The Pura Taman Ayun ("Garden Temple in the Water") is one of the six royal temples on Bali, and thus one of the most important temples on the island.

Seafood Dinner @ Jimbaran Bay...

Address: Jl. Pantai Kedonganan, Jimbaran Bay, Kuta Bali

The last stop we went was seafood dinner at Jimbaran Bay. There are lines of traditional restaurants where you can choose your fresh seafood and they will cook it on the spot for you. The best part was definitely sitting on the beach under the moonlight entertainted by the sound of the sea while enjoying your seafood spree. :)

I never had enough of their grilled fish and this place is never missed by visitors due to its unique experience but be prepared this place is definitely more pricy.

Location is about 45 minutes drive from Kuta beach and after a good seafood dining, you can take a walk along the beach.

The ocean.... it was almost sunset... :) Great time for photos...

A Trip to Bali Day 2 - Lunch at Kintamani...

Home to 5 volcanoes, including the sacred Mt. Agung, Kintamani and Mt. Batur must rank among the most dramatic and accessible live volcanoes to be found anywhere.

Kintamani is the most favorite tourist destinations in Bali with the active volcano of mount Batur and beautiful lake. Do not expect too much from the restaurants here as food are a little pricy since it's a tourist spot and definitely nothing to shout about except for the great view and cool weather. :)

You get to view the mountains from the hill top restaurants...

Buffet spree of assorted Balinese FOOD.... Rice, noodles, stir fry vegetables, poultry and etc. The only thing edible here was the pork satay I remembered... :P

I'm back from Penang yesterday and it's the weekends again.... YAHOO!! :) I had my dose of Asam Laksa, thanks to my wonderful Penang colleague who brought us to all the yummy places. :P

Back to more Bali photos... The tour driver brought us to the next destination - Gunung Kawi. Seriously walking under the hot sunny weather is a pain. LOL! :P

The location of the monument is in Tampaksiring, 40 kms from Denpasar. Gunung Kawi, constructed along a river in the 11th century, is a complex of pavilions and rock-cut shrines carved into the hillside northeast of Ubud, Bali Indonesia.

It's a peaceful place, surrounded by rushing water and local farmers harvesting terraced rice paddies.

The entrance ticket... RM 6,000 rupiah per person... approx RM 2... we are millionaire when we are at Bali due to currency... keke... =)

A Trip to Bali - Day 2....

I'll be OFF to Penang for 2 days due to customers and partner meetings. Hopefully I have time to catch my fav Penang Asam Laksa! :) Hence will be missing in action and back by the weekends... till then enjoy the following post. =)

We boarded a tour with our personal drive who brought us to the following tourist spots in Bali:

Day 1 tour:

  • Egg paintings - FOC

  • Pura Gua Gajah - Temple opens up to a huge garden area with fresh spring water area that comes out of 7 statues. Entrance fee Rp3k per person.

  • Gunung Kawi - built in the mountains where the temple was carved into the limestones. You are required to climb over 300 steps to reach the temple. Can you imagine walking these steps under the hot sun? Entrance fee Rp3k per person.

  • Jimbaran Bay - Beach famous for seafood dining during the night but I reckon the food is overpriced here. But great view of the beach indeed....

This was my second trip to the island but this round I went together with a couple of closed friends enjoying the hot sunny weather (in fact it was too HOT) and breathtaking views of the mountains. A 5 days 4 nights getaway from the stress and work was indeed fulfilling. :)

The gang, a total of 6 of us, 3 couples awaiting at the LCCT airport for our early morning flight to Bali. The usual breakfast time at Mcdonalds. :P

Warner Bros. Movie World....

YIPEEE!!! Holiday today... don't you just LOVE the many holidays in the month of December? With Christmas and new year to 2009 just round the corner, time for celebration.. :)

Warner Bros. Movie World is a popular movie related theme park on the Gold Coast in Australia.
The park contains various movie-themed rides and attractions ranging from motion simulators to roller coasters and slow river rides. In addition, costumed character performers also patrol the park, allowing visitors the chance to take photos with them which include Catwoman, Batman, Austin Powers and various Looney Tunes characters.

I feel like a young kid once again sitting roller coaster rides and watching my favorite looney tunes characters in action... :)

At the grand entrance... Movie world was the last tourist attraction we visited on the last day on our trip...

Microsoft Summit @ Sentosa Island, Singapore

I was at Singapore couple months back for a company's summit held at Rasa Sentosa hotel at Sentosa Island, Singapore. The only reason they chose a hotel so far from the city centre so the people will not go missing in action shopping around... haha!

It was a short stay, 3 days 2 nights where we were stucked at the hotel most of the time having their hotel food except for the first night that they actually arranged for a dinner at Vivo City to eat at the famous seafood restaurant called No Sign Board!

We stayed at Rasa Sentosa, very nice hotel at Sentosa island. It would have been perfect if you were there for a leisure holiday enjoying the facilities instead of work. LOL!

Gasoline Cafe @ Look Out Point

Address: Jalan Hulu Langat (B62), Ampang, Kuala Lumpur

Look Out Point is just the perfect place to catch a glimpse of the city right at the hill top. The best time to go I would suggest is evening just on time to catch the sunset and have your dinner at the many restaurants they have to offer at Look Up Point.

Look up point is about 10 -15 KM from Ampang town, some distance you would need to travel before reaching your destination.

During our first trip there, we tried out Gasoline Cafe since it was more crowded than the rest. They serve a fusion of food from asian cuisines like fried noodles right to western meals and also unlimited choices of interesting starters to kick start your meal! The best part of all was prices are really reasonable.

Their lightings and beautifully decorated walls gives a great ambience for diners. Always opt to sit outdoor where you get enjoy a breadth taking view while enjoying your delicious meal :)

Grilled lamb chop topped with black pepper gravy accompanied by side dishes - salad and french fries... dearie reckons they spoilt the sauce by putting in the basil leaves... :P

I was cravy for cheese... hence ordered the grilled chicken chop nicely marinated and topped with a big chunk of cheese at the top. Everything was ok except the fact that the cheese was too thick and didn't quite melted on the chicken

Birthday Treat - Full House, Niu Ze Xui @ Ara Damansara

Each year we meet up till this very day to celebrate each other's birthday. How is nice is that eh? I knew this bunch since primary school and some others from college. I think that exceeds more than 10 years.. :)

So I picked a restaurant of my choice - that's something we do every year and so we headed towards Full House, Niu Ze Xui at Ara Damansara after reading a couple of "good" reviews on the net.

Each section of the restaurant is decorated to resemble the different spaces like bedroom, bathroom, courtyard, etc. Most of the décor pieces are available for sales.

Atmosphere is GOOD but the selection of food was soooo limited and not so good seriously... go there to experience the nice atmosphere but have no high expectations of the food kayz :P

The grand entrance and people were lining up to get a table during the weekends...

Really nice interior...

A car on display right infront of the entrance!

The food menu....
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
To be frank their menu is sooo simple... nothing much to eat though... 2 pages and that's it.. lolz! I think almost everyone ordered the same dish!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Some drink we had... I recommend to just have drinks at this place cause food is just so so except for the nice atmosphere.

The signature chicken chop.... Western/ Asian style.. since it was topped with raisin and accompanied by "Siu Pak Choy"
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Carbonara pasta... sooo dissapointing... not cheesy at all and I reckon the sauce was too watery...

All smiles catching up with everyone again! :)
